Frequently Asked Questions

Why are the rooms in my home are different temperatures?

View

The first thing to check is that your vents and registers aren’t being blocked so that the air can properly flow in your home.

If your vents and registers aren’t blocked, it’s possible that a dirty furnace filter is restricting the air flow in your home. Check to see if it needs cleaning or replacing.

If neither of those solves the problem, it’s best to call a professional to come take a look.

How long will a new air conditioner last?

View

Air conditioners last for 17-20 years on average. In order to get the most out of your new air conditioning unit, we highly recommend regular maintenance and service.

When should I consider replacing my air conditioning unit?

View

There are a variety of factors that indicate that it is a good idea to replace your air conditioner, such as decreased energy efficiency or more frequent breakdowns/repairs.

Repairing your unit may be cheaper in the short run, but advances in air conditioning technology in recent years may mean that you might save more money in the long term by upgrading your unit to a newer, more efficient model.

What do I do if my A/C won’t turn on?

View

For whole home units (like central air), double check to make sure your thermostat settings aren’t the problem. Make sure the unit is on, the desired temperature is lower than the current temperature, and that the unit is set to cool instead of heat.

For portable or window units, check that the settings on the unit are correct. If they are, try restarting the unit and checking to make sure there is power flowing to the outlet that it is plugged in to.

If the above steps don’t work, give us a call and we will come take a look.
